Aydon Castle (English Heritage)

Almost completely intact, one of the finest and most unaltered examples of a 13th century English manor house; fortified against Scots raiders and used as a farmhouse until 1966. Tucked away in an attractive woodland setting, near Hadrian’s Wall and Corbridge Roman Town.
