Chirk Castle (National Trust)

A 700 year old Marcher fortress built by Roger Mortimer in 1295, it was converted to a family home by the Myddeltons after its purchase in 1595, and is the only Edward I castle still lived in today. Open daily February to October, and December. For opening times see website.
